Overnight at Hull

In all the years we've been taking the boys to Hull, we've never slept over.  It's usually just easier to drive home and sleep here in our house.  But we figured it was about time to give it a try so we could do more, particularly at night.

We chose this past Saturday night to go without doing any research, and what a great weekend we chose!  It was Illumination Saturday night so there was a boat parade on the bay side with a bunch of boats sailing by that were decorated.  Then after about a half hour, when it was fully dark at 8:30, they lit red flares all along the bay.  It was fun and festive.  Then it started to rain lightly just as things were finishing.  The timing was perfect.  It was a fun filled day for the boys:

Here's a run down of the day.  We did more on Saturday than we usually do in a weekend!

1. breakfast at home

2. bike ride to the playground once we got to Hull

3. a trip to the refurbished/renovated Wellspring thrift store (yielding a Puma sweatshirt and a blue blazer so that the boys can pretend they belong to the Odd Squad, one of their favorite PBS Kids shows)

4. a treasure hunt!!!!  We did our first geocache with the boys and Grumpy.  Carlos and I have done it before, but it was years ago.  We found this one in a new area of Hull where we NEVER would have gone if it weren't for the cache.  Tons of fun, and the boys were impressed.  They want to do more treasure hunting.

5. A car ride to the tip of Hull to see the windmills

6. Lunch, baseball game, and TV watching (in lieu of a nap...)

7. some fresh made donuts and Del's Frozen Lemonade from a fair at L street.  Sebastian climbed up into a Coast Guard boat.  Adi was too shy.  We were too early for the Toe Jam Puppet Band Pirate show.  Bummer.  But Sebastian got some dancing in anyway.

Check out Sebastian's sweet moves! ;-)

8. Beach!!

9. Dinner

10.  Illumination

11.  Bed at 9pm for the boys...and the adults not long after!

12. The boys woke at 5:30 (Seb) and 6:00 (Adi) and then got Grumpy up at 6:30.  We headed to Jen's restaurant (dad's neighbor's daughter) 5 South Main in Cohasset for a *delicious* posh breakfast before heading home around 9am.

The boys were tired and CRANKY the rest of Sunday, but it was well worth it.  Thank you so much to Grumpy for having us!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Fun

Swimming at Tío Jim's and Tía Jen's with Baby Alice and James.  The four played nicely together in the screened in porch.  I love that Alice is right in the mix now!

Dinner at The Shipyard in Hingham after an afternoon at Grumpy's beach with the cousins.  Wahlburgers!

Sebastian wore this suit on a 90 degree day because he said it was his "Clark Kent Suit."  Oh boy.

At their favorite "Spiderman playground."

Playground near Mini's house.  A rare moment of physical contact that doesn't involve hitting or kicking or slapping.

World War I Memorial Park in North Attleboro.

The butterfly shoots water!
