House News

I've been quiet for a while because there was no news to share regarding the sale of our condo.  But....as of last Thursday, the condo is sold!!!!  Such good news for us!!!  It turned out to be a young couple that had seen the place a few times.  The lady originally came through and decided to keep looking because she really wanted a place with a bath and a half.  She was trying to figure out where she'd add a half bath in our condo.  That seems like an impossible feat to me, but either she gave up or figured it out because they came back to us and said they were interested in making an offer.  They moved pretty slow on things which was surprising to me given that she is supposedly 9 months pregnant!  Anyway, last weekend unbeknownst to us, our agent, or their agent, they knocked on the door of the lady downstairs so that they could meet her.  Thankfully, they hit it off.  The lady downstairs loved her and her husband and seemed very relieved that they were interested in buying the house instead of some of the other unsavory characters she saw coming through the condo.  So that was good.  We took less for the condo than it was really worth and than we wanted, but it's sold and we can move on.  That's the most important thing.

Then, as soon as we had an offer, we made an offer on the house in Easton that we want.  This is the same house that I fell in love with a few weeks ago and Carlos hated.  We went back for a second showing with my parents and a friend of ours who is a builder/contractor to get some other opinions.  After seeing it a second time and hearing all of us talk about what good bones the house has, Carlos came around.  It needs some cosmetic updating, but the woman who currently owns it really did a nice job keeping up with maintenance etc.  It is fine to move in right away and just make some updates over time.  In other words, none of it is so ugly or gross that we have to spend money asap just to make it livable.

I think it's the perfect house to raise the boys in.  2150 sq. feet, so not too small but not too big.  It has 3 decent sized bedrooms and 2.5 baths.  It has a walk-out basement and it's finished.  So perfect for a playroom for the boys as well as a bar/football watching room for me!  :)  The living room is huge and has a bluestone fireplace and some built-ins.  The kitchen/dining room is very large as well and has an island.  There is a screened-in porch off the basement and a one car garage that is actually a 2-car size...the other side is a work area with work benches and a ton of storage cabinets.  I love the yard because it's nicely landscaped and not too big or too small.  It shouldn't be too hard to take care of but it's big enough for the boys to play and run around in.  Lastly, it's in a quiet, established neighborhood of similar sized homes.  Nothing flashy, but there are no through streets so there is no reason to go down there unless you live in the neighborhood.  Yet it's right off rte. 138 for easy access to the highway, both 24 and 495.  If Carlos transfers offices to Foxboro when they open up their facility there in a year, the commute will be great for him.  And while I still have to deal with traffic on rte. 24 when going to Milton, I'm at least closer to school than now living with my mom in Bridgewater.   It's less than 10 minutes away from the boys' daycare as well, and there are 3 other daycares very close by that we could take a look at if we want.

So, the inspection on our condo is today at 3:30 and the inspection on the house in Easton is Friday at 2pm.  So I hope they both go well.  I'll feel better once they are over!

As for the boys, they are doing well.  Sebastian is almost walking, but Adrian isn't as interested...

And finally, some random photos.

They boys had just woken up from a nap...their faces and expressions are priceless!  Poor Adrian is all red in the face from how he was sleeping...

LOOK AT THE CURLS!!

Again, I love the curls...

making trouble

Last weekend we went to La Siesta, a Mexican restaurant in Winthrop with one of the nurses from the Brigham that took care of me last year.  When I was on bedrest, we talked about meeting at the restaurant someday, and although it's taken us a while to actually meet, it was so nice for us on so many levels to see our nurse in this venue.  It was literally a dream come true to be there with her and two healthy, growing boys.  She gave us something to shoot for when things looked grim, and I am so grateful that we were able to follow through.  Anyway, we had a lovely lunch.  The food was excellent, the boys were pretty well behaved for almost 2 hours, and we LOVED LOVED LOVED seeing Patty!!
