Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend was awesome!!!

It's been so warm!  Nice enough to play with water in the driveway.  Note Adi in his camo undies.  Goodness.  Sebastian runs right into the Pooh sprinkler.  Adi just runs by it, barely gets a few drops on him, and shrieks so shrilly I think I'll go deaf...

To kick off the weekend, we went to LLBean to find Grumpy a gift.  Before we ventured in the store, we went back to the Bass Pro Shop nature trail to let the boys run.  Then they helped pick out a blue zip up sweatshirt/jacket for Grumpy at LL Bean.  Then we had Chipotle.  They had tacos, just like the dragons in their book Dragons Love Tacos.

Later that afternoon, we also went to Peaceful Meadows...  Sebastian had a cone and finished with ice cream in every crevice of his body.  At least he doesn't care.  OCD Adi ate his with a spoon and finished pretty clean.

On the way home, we went through Bridgewater center, which was out of the way.  But I wanted the boys to burn off some of the sugar rush from the ice cream, so we walked the walls around Bridgewater State University.  I used to do this with my dad when I was a kid and loved it.  And the boys loved it, too.  Nothing fancy is involved.  It's just what it sounds--walking on walls.  And we played outside of Boyden Hall on the quad.  It was fun!

Monday was Dad's birthday so Jim and Dad came over to celebrate.  We had a cookout and the boys played.  But the boys kept asking for Baby James all day long (they came in the afternoon).  So we played outside in the neighborhood as much as we could in the morning to pass the time.  The boys spontaneously started holding hands...

After eating, we had the cake from Market Basket that Sebastian picked out.  It was purple with a shortbread star cookie...he also picked out star candles to put on top.  They had the bakery write "Happy Birthday, Grumpy.  Love you." on the cake.  Sebastian was so. darn. proud. of that cake.

This week, I went to Smith College for a counselor fly-in program Thurs-Sat.  I got home around 2pm Saturday.  That is the last trip I have to take away from my family until November.  I am so glad to be home.  Both boys woke up from their naps to find me home.  And both had the same reaction, "Mama!!!!  You came back!!!!"  Breaks my heart that they aren't sure if I'll come back.  And at bedtime tonight Adi said, "Mama, don't go to work!"  He is afraid he'll go to bed and I won't be there when he wakes up!  How sad...

I haven't been writing down the funny lines as much as I should.  But this one happened Tuesday on the way to school (the morning after our dinner birthday celebration for Grumpy).

Adrian: Mama, my bum hurts.
Mama: Why?  Did you poop in your undies?
Adrian: No, Mama.  I ate cake and so my bum hurts.
