This week was busy. The boys and I have been shopping to Ikea for curtain rods and dinner, back to Ikea to buy more curtain rod parts (and dinner), other various errands, to the New England Aquarium, the Providence Children's Museum, the playground...
First the Aquarium. Carlos took the day off Thursday, and we all went together. Thanks to the Ames Free Library pass, we only paid $20 for the four of us ($10 each for adults and the boys were free). Parking was $22 at Rowes Warf with a voucher from the Aquarium--more expensive than the museum itself! I didn't dare ride the T in on a weekday with the boys. I was afraid they'd be too tired on the way home and make a scene.
I've never really loved the Aquarium, and I don't like fish. I wasn't all that impressed this time, and the money would have been better spent at the Children's Museum or the zoo. Sebastian liked it and was a good sport. Adi was indifferent, a poop, and kept asking to "see the animals." The penguins, seals, sea lions, and fish didn't seem to be "animals" to him! In all fairness, though, Adrian was not feeling great. Both boys have had yucky colds all week with runny noses that won't quit. Oh well. It was still worth going to see what it's all about these days. I was probably no more than 10 years old the last time I went!
The boys enjoyed the penguins, but their favorite part was watching the seals. We caught part of a show before they got restless and we had to leave.
Sebastian thought it was hi-lar-i-ous when the seals would jump out of the water or splash each other.
After the Aquarium we watched the planes take off from Logan for a while from the Boston Harbor Hotel. The boys liked that just as much as the fish at the Aquarium!
Today, at the spur of the moment, I decided to take the boys to the Providence Children's Museum. It is currently $9/person, and I didn't have time to check if the library has passes, but at least it had free parking! It's a cute little museum--much more doable than the Boston Children's Museum. Next week we'll check out the Easton Children's Museum, so we can compare...
The boys loved the mirror section. They had funhouse type mirrors...
And a little closet (for lack of a better way of describing it) that created multiple reflections of the person in it. Adrian in particular loved the mirrors.
And our second time in the water table room...
This afternoon, after we got home, Adrian stunk up the whole playroom with a nasty poop. He insists on sitting on the potty AFTER he's already pooped. He sat there and played with his Little People Gas Station for a few minutes before he let me change his diaper.
Then before Papi got home we hit the playground. It's my first time there since last fall. There was still some snow on the ground in the play area! It was about 43 degrees, so we didn't stay very long. The boys didn't want to leave, but I was frozen, so I could only imagine they must have been, too.
Adrian playing the bells.
He got mad when Sebastian infringed on his territory.
And tonight for dinner the boys had meatloaf, mac and cheese, and mango lassi. They loved the mango lassi...it left Adrian with a lassi mustache.
Adrian can drink pretty well out of a cup now with no assistance and consistently uses utensils. Sebastian spills the water because he WANTS to, and still prefers to use his hands. They are like night and day, these boys!
It's been a busy first week. I still need to post pictures of the boys' bedroom now that it's painted. We also hung the Ikea curtain rods before we went to the Aquarium yesterday. The curtains from Auntie Carol and Kitchen are GREAT. They block out so much light!
All in all, a good first week. It was busy and productive, and the boys and I have had many adventures I'll remember for a while.
