Sebastian Behind the Wheel

All four of us had a hell of a good weekend.  It was NOT very Mustacian, but it was AWESOME.

To start, the weather was perfect.  We had Kitchen's birthday party on Saturday.  All week the boys would wake up asking "Kitchen's house?"  It was so nice to finally say "Yes!' to them on Saturday!  We picked up my mom at her house and the boys went inside to see their new fort made from the McQueen box.  Adi in particular liked it.  He went in there with a snack, closed the door, and sat on the floor in the dark.  Funny boy.

Peek-a-boo, Adi!

We got to Auntie Carol and Kitchen's around 10am and had a good time running around and playing trains before everyone else got there.

Kitchen's boat!

Kitchen and Adi had fun goofing off.

They were putting blocks on their head.  Adi was envious of Kitchen's hair because he could make the blocks stay on his head better!

Then the boys went in the inflatable boat and splashed around.  They splashed out just about every ounce of water.  They kept jumping up and landing on their bums so they would get all wet.

Such a gorgeous day and such a nice spot to enjoy.  It doesn't get much better than this.

I wonder what the boys or I did to merit that look from Auntie Mimi?!!  :-)

After Kitchen's house we had to drop Mini off at her house.  We all needed a stretch break.  Adi got a hold of this long cardboard tube and called it his "snowblower" because it looks kind of like Mini's leaf blower.

When we got home, Sebastian took out the old jeep and drove it all around the neighborhood completely by himself.  He was so proud.

Today, we went to the market in the morning and then came home and played.  Sebastian finally figured out how to drive the McQueen car and drove that one (instead of the jeep) all around the neighborhood without any help.  I have a video but I can't get anything to upload tonight.

We had to wait for a high school friend of mine to drop off some outdoor toys.  The boys got this little house and a truck that doubles as a sand box/water table.  They were so happy!

The toys needed a good cleaning, plus the pollen is coating everything right now.  So we hosed them off and scrubbed them down.  Sebastian even helped!

After naps, we went to Belmont and Arlington.  I had arranged to buy a used youth tennis racket for the boys from someone up there as well as the complete LOST series, seasons 1-5.  Normally I don't drive more than a few miles to buy anything on Craigslist or an online yard sale, but the prices were right, and I'd been wanting to check out Beaver Brook Park in Belmont with the boys anyway because they have a playground and splash pad.  It's right near where we used to live...we'd be there all the time if we still lived in Watertown.

While in Belmont Center picking up the DVDs, Carlos had an ice cream and shared with the boys.  This was the first time they ate it out of a cup all by themselves.  Sebastian is like me--it's too cold for him.  He didn't eat much.  But Adi devoured it--all by himself.  That boy can EAT.  And it's even more obvious because lately Sebastian doesn't eat anything.  Like nothing but junk.  It's so frustrating.  The kid won't even eat chicken!

The wading pool area was crowded, but it was fine--the boys still had a great time.  We also met Laura, our old downstairs neighbor in Watertown (the first one!) and her kids there.  They are so big now!  The boys had a blast.

After they splashed around for 20 min or so, they were cold.  So we went to the playground right next to the water.

Then we made a pit stop at Fiorella's Express on Belmont Street--one of our favorite places ever.  It's a fast-food version of a nicer Italian restaurant in Newton.  The food is so damn good.  Adi loved the Lemon Chicken.  He even ate the kalamata olives.  Sebastian ate only the pasta, and not very much of it.  I can't win with that kid.

The boys were so tuckered out from the park that while we waited for the foot, they played trucks like perfect angels at the restaurant.  I was proud of them.

On the way home, Adi didn't want to put down his new tennis racket--I KNEW he'd love it!  Just a sixth sense!  He's my athlete.  I hope he'll play tennis with me in the future.

Love the "hand" on his hand.  That's what he calls gloves.

When we got home, the boys had to do some playing in their new house before baths.  It was 6:20 (almost bedtime!) but they were still behaving well.  So we let them play for 5 minutes.

They went to bed tired and happy--as will I.  So, back to work and back to a strict budget tomorrow.   But how I wish I didn't have to work for a living and could have the fun I had this weekend with the boys EVERY DAY.  Can't wait for summer!!! 1.5-2 more weeks of work...
