Almost home...

Today when we went into the NICU we found Sebastian out of his isolette and in a crib.  So now both boys are out of the isolettes.  So that we save thousands of dollars in therapy for the boys in the future (since we put pictures of Adrian in his crib yesterday), here are pictures of Sebastian in his crib.

Sebastian also did well with his bottle feeding last night and today. Adrian did well too, although he continues to choke himself a bit when he starts to bottle.  He is so excited and aggressive with the feeding at the beginning that he forgets to breathe and swallow.  This is a common sign of immaturity, and the nurses are working on it with him.  But he'll have to overcome it to go home.

Apparently there is talk that Sebastian could go home this weekend--what a Christmas present that'd be!  Nothing is set in stone or definite, but both boys are getting very close.  In fact, they will circumcise both boys tomorrow (this is normally done just before they leave the hospital).  This is also good news as the nurses will do most of the care after the procedure.  We met the nurse practitioner who does the circumcisions, and she was lovely.

I have bittersweet feelings about the boys or Sebastian coming home this weekend.  Of course I want them home ASAP, but even though I was prepared for the fact that about 90% of twins do not leave the NICU on the same day, it seems so awful to take one home and leave the other one there.  Also, we really really REALLY wanted the discharge to be with Marcy.  Again, even though we are prepared for the fact that it might not be able to be her, we still hope she'll be there.  It would give us a sense that things have come full circle since she's been there with them since the beginning.  In any event, we can't wait to have BOTH boys home with us, whenever that will be.

Finally, thanks to my mom who scanned them for me, I now have the funny photos that Jill the night nurse took of the boys.  They both look like aliens in these photos.  I swear they don't look so alien-like in person!!!
Meet Dr. Evil and his wicked brother.  They are busy plotting world domination.

These preemies LOVE to touch their face with their hands.

This picture's so weird I can't even dream up a caption for it.

Awwwww!

And two more pictures of the boys with Santa taken by the nurses.
